We aim to provide relevant, useful information and support for faculty professional development in teaching and learning in a variety of ways:

  • Programs - A variety of school of dentistry programs related to teaching and learning.

  • Communities of Practice - Regular meetings with faculty sharing common interests

    • Community of Practice - for course directors and other faculty teaching students in didactic and lab environments.

    • Clinical Community of Practice - for all faculty teaching in clinic or preclinic, focussed on issues related to clinical teaching.

  • Faculty Calibration - Training for faculty to continuously improve consistency of teaching and grading in clinical and preclinical environments.

  • Zoom Sessions – Many of our programs are available through Zoom so you can participate in the comfort of your own office or home.

  • Peer review of teaching - peer feedback on your online or in person course, classroom or clinical teaching

  • Teaching and Educational Research Consulting - One-on-one help with an expert.

  • Outside Programs – The university and other organizations offer many services and programs.  We can help connect you to the right one.

  • Grants and Resources - A curated list of grants and online resources supporting teaching and learning innovations.

The more faculty who participate, the better!  By developing our teaching skills we improve the quality of education for our students.  Plus, there are benefits to you:

  • Expand your personal competencies in the area of teaching and learning.

  • Earn continuing education credit.

  • Conduct and publish educational research.
